The Farm at Milden Hall
As
keen conservationists and historians we take great pride in managing
our 500 acre arable farm, happy pigs and bantams, our wildlife habitats
and archeological sites as carefully as possible. Our family spend hours
armed for tree planting, pond dipping and late night mothing.
- We have planned farm nature trail routes for exploring the
farm, around wildflower meadows, our award-winning woodland, numerous
ponds, meadows and Norman Castle earthworks
- For families we have self-guided pack that contains
20 fun educational activities to do on the farm including scavenge
hunts, tree games, hedge dating, making stone bugs, leaf rubbing,
tree identification, map reading treasure hunts
- B&b guests can relax in our peaceful walled garden with ancient Tulip and Judas trees
- All guests can use our recently restored tennis court – bring your own rackets and balls
Historical, environmental and art
activities for self-caterers
 Self-catering
guests can book an hour or two of themed environmental activities with
an experienced leader - woodland games, pond activities, nature detective
bug hunts, wildflowers and woven garlands, willow weaving, drawing or
painting, or a simple guided nature walk.
Milden Hall farm has a wealth of history to interpret: Book a guided
tour of the house, small farm museum, barns, Norman castle earthworks
and the historic hedged landscape, or learn how to field walk for pottery
and other artefacts, or metal detect methodically.
We can book your group a guided 'Blue Badge Tourist Guide' tour of
Lavenham, some other local historic village, or local historic properties
such as Kentwell Hall.
Activities further afield
Keen walkers can try our popular planned walks
for further afield, taking in local churches, nature reserves, villages
and pubs. Cyclists can safely store bicycles (and
dry their clothes!). Golfers can play nearby. Artists
have a multitude of on or off-farm peaceful options
- Try our car-free planned itineraries to visit nearby medieval
villages - Lavenham, Kersey, Long Melford and Constable Country,
or boat down the Stour
Why not leave your car behind, hire one of our bicycles and borrow a map or our planned routes on quiet Suffolk roads to tour the local area?
