Borrow our 45+ bikes or BYO
Each property has its own fleet of 22+ adult road bikes for those aged over 16 (weight <15 stone) included in hire fees (BYO children’s bikes).
Various Suffolk Cycle Routes pass by our drive, so you’re in good cycling country. We have maps and laminated circular routes for varying fitness (45 mins - 5 hrs), different interests (nature reserves, medieval ‘Wool’ villages, pubs) along quiet country lanes.
Ask us to deliver a picnic to one of several millennium greens nearby. Or finish with a lovely tea -one mile away at the cyclists’ Cafe Como?
For more serious cyclists check out the Suffolk Cycle Routes, Long Distance Routes (scroll on!) and other routes that pass nearby.

Wool Town bike trail quiz
Try out our Wool Town Bike Trail quiz. You choose how many villages you wish to do (1-3 hours). In teams, you work out a route on lovely quiet country lanes between villages. We provide maps, some cryptic clue questions, and some silly tasks to do (which vary from making up rhymes to discovering the dates when something happened).
Why not meet up in a pub for lunch or coffee and cake at Cafe Como just down the road? If you want a meal, it might be best to forewarn the pub and pre-order your lunch.
Bike supplies - if you need these in a hurry, we have the very excellent Life Cycle Bike Shop in nearby Bildeston @lifecycle_uk
Long Distance cycle routes
Sustrans, Cathedral Cycle Route, Wolf Way… stay with us on your route.
Whether you’re solo cyclists or part of a larger cycling club, check out our overnight stay options en route. We’re just:
1.5 miles from the Wolf Way – an exciting 248-mile loop through Suffolk’s quiet country lanes, ancient villages and Roman landmarks.
3.75 miles from the Cathedral Cycle Route, connecting St Edmundsbury and Chelmsford Cathedrals - part of a 2,000 mile network. Mostly on paved surfaces, the route is not signposted, but often you follow an existing cycle route.
Near the Stour Valley AONB, home to the 69-mile Painters' Trail and several shorter, scenic rides (7–12 miles).
We’re also within easy reach of major Sustrans routes:
Route 13 (London to Fakenham) – join near Lavenham, 2.5 miles away.
Route 1 (Fakenham to Harwich & Shetland to Dover) – join at Hadleigh, 7 miles away.
